Rendezvous with Rama II
As I continue to read this book, I'm really appreciated how good it is. Clarke does a great job of keeping Rama very mysterious. He's also very skilled at subtling creating the world of the book. Some of the tangents, like explaining the use of genetically engineered monkeys to do manual labor, the theology of the Fifth Church of Christ (scientific space-dwelling people who believe in miracles) and nuclear reactors being part of a industrial archeology class, really help flesh out this world.
